Students studying for a master's degree
Students studying for a master's degreegraduate after successfully defending a thesis.
Obtaining a master's degree gives them access to doctoral studies and participation in continuing education and training.
Only students who have successfully passed all their semester exams and fulfilled all requirements of their curriculum have the right to submit a thesis.
The department chair appoints a supervisor for the graduates and a thesis reviewer.
The department organizes a thesis defense within three sessions.
Students must submit an application to the rector before the thesis defense.
Students appear for the thesis defense in the third and subsequent sessions with individual protocols after they are prepared by the Academic Activities Directorate at least one day before the thesis defense date and after payment of the specified fee by the relevant student.
Students hold their thesis defense in front of the committee, which includes at least three university lecturers in the particular scientific field. Lecturers from other universities and specialists from concrete practice may participate in the committee.
The students graduating according to the curriculum are awarded a Master's degree in the relevant specialty with the professional qualification "economist."
VUZF issues a European diploma supplement to the diploma.

Important deadlines:
Deadlines and requirements for the thesis defense in JULY 2023
- Supervisor appointing and topic selection - application submission to the department chair by 17 March 2023;
- Students are required to submit a copy of the thesis to the supervisor - deadline 15 May 2023;
- After the supervisor has approved the thesis and thinks the student is ready for the defense, the student must submit the final work (electronic version via email and the paper version to the Front Office, application to the rector for the thesis defense, 300 BGN payment of the administrative fee) - deadline 28 June 2023;
- Obtaining a review - till 12 July 2023;
- Thesis defense - 19 July 2023.

Deadlines and requirements for the thesis defense in OCTOBER 2023
- Supervisor appointing and topic selection - application submission to the department chair and receiving an email from your supervisor that he approves your topic selection - by 30 June 2023;
- Students are required to submit a copy of the thesis to the supervisor - deadline 1 September 2023;
- After the supervisor has approved the thesis and thinks the student is ready for the defense, the student must submit the final work (electronic version via email and the paper version to the Front Office, application to the rector for the thesis defense, 400 BGN payment of the administrative fee) - deadline 21 September 2023;
- Obtaining a review - till 06 October 2023;
- Thesis defense - 12 October 2023.

IMPORTANT!
Dear students, we would like to explain that you have paid the thesis defense fee since this graduating session, but meanwhile, we removed your diploma issuance fee.
The management decided that you pay this fee before your thesis defense because of the strong graduation organization and meeting all the deadlines.
The fee includes the organization and conduct process of the thesis defense and the issuance of your master"s degree diplomas.
