VUZF students sat on the chair of Prof. Valeri Dimitrov

Three students were Presidents of the Bulgarian National Audit Office for one day. This happened during a regular visit  of fourth-year regular and part-time sudents, specialty Accounting and Control of the Higher School of Insurance and Finance in the supreme audit institution. On the president's chair sat students: Malvina Miteva, Savina Spasova and Georgi Malinov. Other colleagues  took on the jobs of members of the  Audit Office, of managers of regional offices and auditors.

President of the Audit Office, Prof. Valeri Dimitrov introduced students to the structure of the Office and  audit's technology. Our audit work is very responsible, serious efforts cost us to cover the entire public sector, said Professor Dimitrov. Over 10 thousand are spending units  in Bulgaria, he added.


Students also learned that the Bulgarian National Audit Office itself defines its audit program and only parliament has the right to assign its 5 year audit, and that the institution works closely with the National Assembly. Prof. Dimitrov said that for the program this year  priority are  the audits of EU funds and programs, and there  will be conducted over 30 such audits. President of the Office  explained  the mechanisms of preparing reports,  their adoption on  the meetings and follow-up control  to implement the recommendations of the auditees.

Georgi Nikolov, head of the Council of the "Accounting and Control" and former President of the Office, told his students curious moments of the creation of the institution during his term.

Students viewed the building of the  Office and archives dedicated to the history of the institution.
