"The banking system in the global financial crisis."
On May 27th , 2011 in the Higher School of Insurance and Finance was held a scientific conference on "The banking system in the global financial crisis."Opening speech delivered BNB Governor Mr.Ivan Iskrov. He thanked the Rector of the University for the invitation and the opportunity to share the experience of the Bulgarian National Bank in maintaining banking stability in Bulgaria. According to Mr. Iskrov the topic and the timing of the conference are very timely, since we are in an interesting point concerning the economic and financial crisis. He revealed two main tasks of the BNB in the last 7-8 years, financial stability, which according to him fit great in the conference - communication and anti-cyclical policy of the central bank.
Among the international participants of the conference were representatives of the following universities:
International School of Law and Business - Vilnius, Lithuania;
University St. Cyril and St. Methodius "- Skopje, Macedonia;
City College - Thessaloniki., International Faculty of the University of Sheffield;
Economic Faculty of the University “Fans Noli "of Korca, Albania;
Representatives of Bulgarian universities came from Sofia University” St. Kliment Ohridski”, "UNWE”, New Bulgarian University, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics.
Renowned speakers and practitioners shared their experiences with students and discussed the current problems in the Bulgarian and international banking market.
International participants shared their views on addressing the consequences of financial crisis and prevention.
